COH approves first ever maintenance program for Lake Houston

City Council Member Dave Martin introduced amendment 10.01 to the City of Houston’s budget debate that will establish the first maintenance program for Lake Houston utilizing funds collected from Lake Houston residents that build, permit, and renew permits for boat docks, peers and decks on their lake front property.

In a YouTube video posted by Urban Reform Martin went on to say “The City has not done a thing within the body of Lake Houston since it was built in 1953”.

With this amendment the City will have the ability to develop a maintenance plan for the Lake Houston, the East and the West Fork of the San Jacinto River. To keep water flowing and reduce the effects of flooding

The amendment is part of the City of Houston’s $5.1 Billion 2020 Budget that passed today by a vote of 12-4 (June 19, 2019).
