The Rusty Buckle Reopens Friday in New Caney
The Rusty Buckle Craft BBQ and Texas Cuisine will reopen Friday, Sept. 25, in its new, larger restaurant at 22664 Community Drive in New Caney, located behind its original restaurant.
The reopening marks another chapter for the locally owned restaurant after a Thanksgiving Day fire in 2023 destroyed most of its cooking areas. Owner Allen Rhoden and his family kept the business going, first serving customers from a food trailer and later reopening in another portion of the building while working toward the new restaurant. The expanded location will offer additional seating and food options, with plans for live music in the future.
The Rusty Buckle also incorporates East Montgomery County history throughout the restaurant, including local artifacts and memorabilia collected by Rhoden. Among them are a table from the home of his former FFA teacher, an autographed table signed by “Dukes of Hazzard” actor John Schneider and wood from Montgomery County’s first civic center, built in 1944.
The East Montgomery County Improvement District helped with the rebuilding effort through a grant and low-interest loan that assisted the restaurant in retaining employees and expanding into the new space.
