Fables & Folklore Bookstore Opening a New Storefront in Kingwood.
The sign is up for Fables and Folklore Bookstore at 1850 W Lake Houston Pkwy #145 in Kingwood, where owner Megan Waldrop is preparing to welcome readers into a new neighborhood bookstore.
Some local readers may already recognize the name from the Kingwood Farmers Market. Fables & Folklore has been bringing books to local markets and serving customers online while working toward opening its permanent storefront.
Waldrop, a lifelong reader and mom of four, is building an independent bookstore with a community focus. Her vision includes a place for families, teachers, book clubs and readers of all ages.
“I want to create a bookstore that feels like part of our community,” Waldrop wrote on the store’s Facebook page.
That effort is already underway. Fables & Folklore carries books for adults and children, accepts special orders, and offers local delivery and shipping. The business also helps families find required reading books and can bring book fairs to schools and preschools.
The store announced that it had received construction permits on October 27, allowing work on the space to move forward. Its new storefront sign went up this week, marking another step toward opening.
While the storefront is still coming soon, customers can already browse and order through fablesandfolklorebooks.com
