La Huerta Bar & Grill coming soon on Northpark in Kingwood, Texas

A new restaurant featuring healthier Tex-Mex options is coming to a new development in East Montgomery County.

The Board of Directors of the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) approved an incentive agreement at its April meeting that helped seal the deal with La Huerta Bar & Grill.

The restaurant will be located at the Centre’ at Northpark, a new strip center west of Russell Palmer Rd. in Kingwood. “We’re always excited about new options for food in our community and the opportunities this project brings as far as jobs for our residents,” said Frank McCrady, President and CEO of EMCID.

La Huerta Bar & Grill is a new concept of Rigo Luna, who has run Pappadeux’s, Pappasito’s, Fiesta Azteca in Atascocita, and Rigo’s that opened in Kingwood in 2015. The new restaurant will feature Tex-Mex food with a flair, including specialty crepes and it will be open for breakfast on the weekends.

“A little over a year ago, Jack Gross with Brazos Management approached me about opening a new Mexican restaurant in the shopping center he was building on Northpark Drive,” said Luna, also a longtime resident of the East Montgomery County area. “I didn’t feel I was ready just yet. Then, he contacted me again this year and I knew I was ready for this chance. I am ready to bring something new to this area.”

“Huerta” translates into orchard, or a large vegetable garden, which has inspired Luna to use organic fruits and vegetables in dishes on the menu along with a few healthier choices akin to his family’s company by the same name.

Construction has begun on the two-building shopping center. In addition to La Huerta, Brazos Management has secured Alpha Omega Gymnastics and Dance, the Alphabet Zone Daycare, and Center Stage Gallery — a place where guests can sip wine and paint.
